Ovidrel is genetically engineered form of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) which is used to trigger ovulation in women undergoing infertility treatment. Ovidrel is given as a subcutaneous injection and comes in a premixed syringe. Ovulation usually occurs between 36 and 40 hours after ovidrel is given. In women undergoing an intrauterine insemination (IUI), the procedure is performed 38-40 hours after the ovidrel injection. In women undergoing IVF, the egg retrieval is performed approximately 36 hours after the ovidrel injection. Ovidrel will cause a urine pregnancy test to be positive. Therefore, if you have taken ovidrel, you should not do a urine pregnancy test for at least 12 days after the injection as you may get a false positive result.

On One Hand: Approximately 36 Hours
Ovidrel is an injection given to women as part of a fertility treatment plan. It is the final injection given to trigger ovulation. Ovulation begins approximately 36 hours after the injection, according to fertility experts at ART Reproductive Center.

On the Other: Everyone Is Different
Women react differently to the Ovidrel injection. Some may experience ovulation as early as 20 to 24 hours after the injection. Other women may take as long as 40 hours to begin ovulating.

Bottom Line
After receiving an Ovidrel injection, it will take one to two days to begin ovulating. On average, ovulation will begin around 36 hours after the shot, but it varies.

ohh..side2 effects juga ada ye kawan2.

macam saya side effects paling ketara saya rasa..nafas pendek..perasan menda ni bila nak mengaji..rasa sesak kadang tu

Bloating
Mild bloating is a common but serious side effect of Ovidrel in women. It is a less common side effect in men and women when it is moderate or severe. In either form, it is classified as a serious side effect and requires medical attention.

Stomach
Ovidrel can cause discomfort in the stomach and abdomen. Stomach pain in women is more common. Less common digestive system problems include diarrhea, vomiting and nausea. There also may be a sensation of indigestion. Contact your physician if you get any of these.

Pain

Aside from pain as part of stomach side effects, Ovidrel also may cause some other aches. Mild to moderate pelvic pain is a common serious side effect of the drug in women. Severe pelvic pain may occur in women and men who take the Ovidrel injection. Headaches and injection site pain are less common and not classified as serious side effects. They may occur when you first are injected, but disappear later. They usually do not require medical aid.

Other Side Effects
Taking Ovidrel also may cause some other side effects such as a sensation of indigestion, shortness of breath, rapid weight gain and swelling in your lower legs or feet. These are serious side effects, so tell your physician. Less common side effects for which you probably will not need medical attention, according to the Mayo Clinic, include tiredness, discouragement, insomnia, breast enlargement, concentration troubles, empty or sad feelings, a decrease in pleasure or your normal interests and irritability. Tell a doctor if they do not go away by themselves.
